LESSON: Embracing Authenticity

SYNOPSIS: While serving in the Israeli army, I joined a program that placed foreign soldiers on a kibbutz, offering a sense of community away from military life. At first, I felt a strong bond with my South African friend, but tensions began to surface, and our dynamic shifted. For my birthday, she gave me a self-help book, telling me she believed I could change. But change from what? I hadn’t realized there was something about me she thought needed fixing. The gesture left me questioning myself, stirring feelings of uncertainty and self-doubt.
