LESSON: The Universality of Birth

SYNOPSIS: In late 1999, I prepared to welcome my first child just before the millenium in late december Pierre was frustrated with my family planning just before the Christmas and New Year rush. His French friends from La Ceiba came to watch the hotel and we left for the mainland Honduras to see the doctor and wait. The child birth was tumultuous the experience tested my strength and patience as I went through labor feeling both alone and overwhelmed. Pierre’s distracted behavior and the doctors lack of clear communication only added to the tension.
