CHAPTER 38: The Witness Protection Program
QUOTE: “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” ― Lao Tzu
LESSON: Envisioning the life you want
SYNOPSIS: Shortly after arriving in China, I was struck by a severe illness that left me bedridden and vulnerable. As I slowly recovered, I dealt with the physical and emotional challenges of reintegration and rebuild my strength while facing the lingering grief of leaving Pierre behind. The anonymity of life at the kung fu academy allowed me to shed old identities and embrace reinvention. I adopted a new name “Leia” as a symbol of my newfound courage and resolve.I began to see the difficult moments as opportunities for growth, transforming this period of hardship into a journey of self-discovery and resilience.
